"I have info on his wife, Lucy Mobley and their daughter, Harriet M Grace who married Col James Jim Bennett."
About 22 years ago, I got a GEDCOM file from a Blackshear researcher. It was not individually documented, but I have not found many mistakes in it in these 22 years. I merged it with my files and they became a part of mine.

It listed James Grace, b. 1770 and d. 1842 No places listed
It listed his wife as Lucy Mobley, b. 1782 in Burke Co, GA and d. 1812.

She was the daughter of John Mobley (RS) and Sarah Ann Barfield.

    Their children:

Jessie Bird, b. 18 oct 1797 who married Nancy Burroughs and had son Bird Decatur
Cynthia, b. 1802 who married Daniel Edenfield, Jr

John Mobley was the son of William Mobley, b. 1729 MD, d. 20 dec 1766, SC and a Mary

Sarah Ann Barfield was the daughter of Keziah Coward the daughter of William Coward and Anna Griffin.

  • The Sion Smith family of Henry Co, AL Part of Henry Cty Al later went to Houston Cty Al, that County formed years later. Check out US Land Patents in Al-specificly Houston Cty. There you will find names of some of these pre-1830 Henry Cty pioneers;for example;James PYNES w/many Patents listed but esp.note 10/4/1832 in 30E,Bartlett PEADON Patent in 30E 10/4/1832,several for Simon SMITH and other SMITH surnames,Sion SMITH in 29E 10/4/1832 and others of interest. It appears that the acreage which they recv'd by Land Patent was prob. in Henry Cty at the time, the part which later became Houston Cty. Sometimes they had to satisfy certain rules in order to acquire the land title such as years of residence, land improvements etc.,others were cash entry, others awarded land for military service;therefore the dateof issue of the Patent does not mean the date the recv'r took residence. It is interesting to note that those listed had their Patent issued same day.Hope this helps.
