Pittman, TimothyThis is a featured page

Alternate spelling "Pitman."

Note: The evidence suggests there were two Timothy Pittman's, even though the records researched to date do not differentiate between the two. The records show that Sheriff Timothy Pittman died between September 16, 1826 and November 23, 1826, but another Timothy Pittman shows up in the Henry County Deed Book in 1829 and in the 1830 and 1840 Henry County censuses. Hopefully, additional evidence will help resolve this mystery.

Interestingly, I have the original land grant or land certificate of December 10, 1841 for land granted to Timothy Pittman in Henry Co., Alabama. The reason my family has this original certificate is because Timothy Pittman sold the land granted to him to my Whatley family. So, there was a Timothy Pittman in Henry Co. in 1841.
