Howerton, John Wesley
| Howerton, John Wesley | Undated | Born in South Carolina November 24, 1806 and came to Henry county in 1827. He settled some four miles northeast of Abbeville and lived there most of his life. In 1831, he married Miss Jane Chester, half sister of James Murphy. They had two sons, Thomas J. and James M. He gained great land holdings in the northeastern section of the county.
