| Hays, James | Enrolled in Company D, 18th Georgia Infantry on June 21, 1861 at Camp McDonald, Georgia for a 3 year term. He was wounded at Manassas on August 30, 1862. Regimental return for November 1862 states he was wounded at Sharpsburg. He was captured at the battle of Gettysburg on July 4, 1863. On July 9, 1863 he was a prisoner of war at Fort McHenry, Maryland. He was sent to Fort Delaware July 7-12, 1863. Prisoner of war record states he was a conscript born in North Carolina. He was discharged September 7, 1863.
